Job Description

Job Summary:

As an Injury Management Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our employees by managing and coordinating the injury management process. You will work closely with injured employees, medical professionals, and management to facilitate timely and effective injury management strategies. Your primary goal will be to minimise the impact of workplace injuries, reduce absenteeism, and support injured employees in their return to work. 

  • Monday to Friday, 50-hour week 
  • Fulltime Permanent opportunity 
  • Occasional site travel

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end process of injury management, from incident report to return to work, in compliance with MLG policies, relevant legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct an initial assessment of workplace injuries, consult with medical professionals, and coordinate appropriate medical treatment and rehabilitation plans.
  • Develop and implement individualised Return to Work Plans for injured employees, considering their medical conditions, capabilities, and workplace requirements.
  • Collaborate with WHS Advisors and management to identify and assess workplace hazards and develop effective strategies to prevent injuries and improve occupational health.
  • Provide training and education to internal stakeholders on injury prevention, ergonomic practices, and early intervention strategies.
  • Develop, and review MLG role profiles to assist medical professionals in assessing suitability for employment and Return to Work plans.
  • Function as a liaison between injured employees and external stakeholders, such as workers’ compensation agencies and rehabilitation providers, to ensure the timely and accurate exchange of information.
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and Project Managers regarding Injury Management and Return to Work policies, processes, and legal requirements.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Requirements:

  • Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology Qualification (desirable).
  • Current and valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience providing injury management services in the mining and resources sector or another heavy industry sector (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with employees, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Proficiency in using injury management software and tools.
