Job Description

Due to continued growth throughout the business, MLG is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated WHS Investigation Lead to join our Work Health and Safety Team. 

Reporting to the WHS Manager, the WHS Investigation Lead is responsible for managing and directing investigations into significant workplace incidents using the investigation methodologies.

This role focuses on identifying systemic root causes, developing actionable recommendations, and driving continuous improvement to prevent recurrence and enhance safety performance across the organisation

Opportunity 

  • Perth Based - 50 hour week (Monday - Friday)
  • Regular travel to site as and when required
  • Permanent - Full Time

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Leading immediate response to significant incidents to support the site team
  • Planning and defining scope of investigations, forming competent teams, and sourcing specialist expertise
  • Coordinating and participating in investigations
  • Overseeing evidence collection and applying incident investigation methodology for causation analysis
  • Developing actionable recommendations and preparing comprehensive incident reports
  • Presenting findings and corrective action plans to management and stakeholders
  • Liaising with internal and external parties to ensure effective communication throughout investigations
  • Perform and lead safety audits
  • Coach and mentor investigation practices and requirements across disciplines

Qualifications & experience

  • Expert knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies (ICAM, TapRoot)
  • Previous experience in significant incident investigations within high-risk industries (mining and transport experience highly regarded) 
  • Use of Safety Management Software (MYOSH or similar)
  • A deep knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework for Work Health and Safety (state and national)
  • Comprehensive working Knowledge of WHS practices
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in risk management standards and practices
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
